During the fall of 2015 and spring of 2016, all children from the Beals Elementary School participated in hands-on learning projects once a week at DEI.  Some grew soft-shell clams, others grew one or two of the species of phytoplankton (marine algae) that we grow for our large-scale production in the hatchery, while others participated in a seeding project for clams at nearby Molly Cove.  All children worked on projects involving cultured Arctic surfclam juveniles.

The children, teachers, school staff, and hatchery staff had the learning experience of a lifetime that will continue into the next school year!
